College Life
College life presents unique challenges.
Many of these challenges show up just when you’re feeling less sure of yourself, lacking that sense of confidence and support you might have felt in high school. Everyone around you seems to be having a good time and you start to wonder if you’re the only one struggling. You may feel worried, isolated, or sad. You might not be sleeping well. You may find yourself turning to alcohol, drugs, or other substances as a way to cope with your feelings. Your relationship with food may start to feel like it could be a problem.
Academic demands, financial pressures, social expectations, homesickness, and the transition to independent living can contribute to high levels of stress and anxiety. Uncertainty about your career path, relationships, personal values, and life goals may have you questioning and doubting yourself. Whether it’s the transition to college, the loss of familiar routines, or the challenges of navigating young adulthood, this journey can evoke a wide range of emotions and uncertainties.
